Modifying My Classroom (Extra Credit #3)

  •      Students with physical disabilities using assistive devices such as wheelchairs or crutches must have a classroom that is accessible for classroom supplies and other learning materials. Teachers must make sure that the classroom is arranged for easy student maneuvering using assistive devices and that classroom supplies are placed in locations that are accessible and free of blockage or student traffic. They need to create student supply boxes that contain basic materials such as pencils, notebooks, tape, stapler and glue. Besides, arrangement of desks, tables or working stations for students who need to be able to turn wheelchairs or store crutches at student work centers. Try putting student working stations in an open corner of the room next to a window, so that the area feels open and larger for students who may need to move around the work station to work with peers. Teachers and instructional assistants create classroom learning environments that have designated work learning areas and accessible learning materials arranged for easy student access, students with physical disabilities can have a classroom tailored to meet their specific learning needs and academic success.

Digital Storytelling (Extra Credit #1)

New Orleans is where centuries commingle. It is where a masquerade party of old masters, modernists, and bohemian street artists. It is a place that deep and mysterious, rich with flavor and plenty spicy, and so much more than the sum of its many disparate parts.
New Orleans, the most unique city in the United States, works its charms like a spell. The best way to get inside New Orleans is to plunge right in. A place where I come from. Welcome to New Orleans!!!

Growing Up Online

I watched this documentary about the kids in their current generation. It was produced in 2008 have changed the way the kids use technology in the classroom, and how their parents and teachers influence their use. And then, this is my opinion about the ideas of "Growing Up Online".
  1. The kids will be more dependent about technology, even doing on the internet. Beside, something on the internet will be unsafety for kids. If something happened, they would know how to protect themselves. Some of parents on that situation don't know how to teach them keep from unsafety. But the kids can control when they are doing on the internet.
  2. That will be considered cheating. Turnitin.com is a good website to stop plagiarism. Students need to use their own words for assignment.  Teachers want to make sure the students use credible source while they are using material online. They searched online for their research which is plagiarism.
  3. He should feel guilty. He isn't supposed to use summaries and notes to complete his assignment. The reading is important. The summaries and notes support the reading. He is cheating.
  4. I think people like Edows who become famous through their online presence, be considered celebrities. Celebrities are people they give excitement to our lives. Edows has a big fan not support her. People should consider celebrities online personal.
  5. Listen to what everything they say to keep safety for themselves.
  6. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/11115502/ns/msnbc-101/#.WBducPkrLIU
  7. This teen is describing Suler's disinhibition effects. It is just a game of the girl flit the boy. This effect don't follow societal rules in their interactions.
  8. I haven't thought about disconnecting from it all. I use the internet everyday for school. I think it wouldn't easy for personally. I will be enjoy about disconnecting, such as: cooking, talking more with my family, and doing something for myself.

Tech Tool Review

My presentation

I like the Haiku Deck because it is easy to build the slidesshow presentations. The information gets from the notes and puts it together in a gorgeously themed presentation. It looks for keywords to pick out slide topics and relevant images pulled from image database. It analyzes keywords, lookes for key phrases, studies how organzied my notes.
When I have finished building my deck, I can embed that slideshow in any website or share it to your social networks or via email. I can export it as an editable PPTX file and work with it some more in powerpoint or keynote.

Pinterest in the Classroom

I am interested about Pinterest. I learned how to create broads and pins in many different thing about education in content area, student activities, and classroom.
Using Pinterest as a teacher, it is so helpful. I can find the ideas on Pinterest. It is easy to use, to find, and to be right. Pinterest can help to become a better educator and an established teacher. It is an amazing tool that cen help differentiate instruction in class.
Pinterest has many the strengths. Pinterest does on thing and does it well. They have embraced the less is more ethos that initially propelled Google search and Twitter in the fileds. They can use Pinterest on computer or on Iphone.
There are many challenges of Pinterest. It is many things that I can find so awesome. Pinterest as well as a tool to find teaching ideas, lesson plans, and anything on any topic. The students keep students active, excited, and engaged.
How many boards is the idea on Pinterest?

Khan/ Koller Review

  • Salman Khan:
    • When I visited his site, I envisioned using myself about something. I learn how to do and get ideas by video on the internet. I think I am more similar with him when I improve my study skill. I am a visual person. It is really helpful. The videos are easy to follow and learn step by step. It shows me how to solve the problems and complete it. When they can't understand or can't do the homework, they can look for some sites, they will explain what they don't know. This site of credentialing is interesting. I am sure this style of education makes learning more accessible to all people. Learning by online is helpful to people, it provides more convenient.

Sample Lesson Plans

In Kindergarten classrooms are bright up for 5 years old. Children can learn anything about the world through play. Subject areas aren’t separate in their minds or in the classroom. The objects in  preschool find on a nature walk, such as: feathers, rocks and leaves. It might help them figure out math concepts like big, bigger, and biggest or motivate them to visit the book corner to find out more about birds. The teachers may introduce children to basic concepts, such as: shapes, letters, and colors, but preschool is about learning much more than what a circle looks like. It is where children first develop a relationship with learning. Kindergarten offers a small class size with big opportunities, where children get the necessary tools to succeed in elementary school.

Some people are arguing that Common Core Standards are too demanding, pushing young children too far, too fast and resulting in developmentally. Others are arguing that these standards are not only attainable but a key to improving U.S. education. Common Core Standards are expectations about what children know and are able to do it. The Common Core Standards, the end of kindergarten, children can ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text. A child will be able to answer the teacher’s question. The Common Core Standards address what to teach, but they do not tell teachers how to teach. There are many different ways to help students learn to ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text. The Common Core Standards don’t specify which techniques a teacher should and shouldn’t use it. One can have standards without any large-scale, high-stakes testing, large-scale, high-stakes testing can exits. So are the Common Core Standards expectations for what kindergarten know and are able to do too high? The short answer is “Not in the hands of a teacher who knows how to address them appropriately.” The problem, of course, is that not every teacher knows this.

Younger children love the make believe of pretending to be grown up. No matter how the children to bring the real world into the classroom. Bring in a guest speaker who works in a field connected to children. They want to know about the weather and the best historical sites to visit before they go, and they learn about the country in a fun way. Choose a topic that will interest your community, such as: a collection of stories about local history or a research assignment on the prevalence of litter, graffiti, or another problem in your community. Children should have the opportunity to receive feedback from their findings.

Voki

My Voki

I am using an avatar in an online classroom because it is so cute. Honestly, it looked like me when I was in elementary school. ^^. When it comes to vastly developing virtual environment, an avatar is the graphical representation of the user or the alter ego or character. In other words, an avatar is also a face. The more unique the face is the better chance. Avatars usually take on human like appearance which ranges from photographic representation to highly styled or realistic looking characters in 2D and 3D.

Classroom Wiki

Summary of Mission Impossible:
When U.S. government operative Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his mentor, Jim Phelps (Jon Voight), go on a convert assignment that takes a disastrous turn, Jim is killed and Ethan becoms the prime murder suspect. Now a fugitive, Hunt recruits brilliant hacker Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and maverick pilot Franz Krieger (Jean Reno) to help him sneak into a heavily guarded CIA building to retrieve a confidentail computer file that will prove his innocence.
How do I fell about creating a Wiki Page:
We all know about Wiki that vast storehouse of online knowledge. It is also the poster child for something inaccurate data. That means it is created by both experts and amateurs. It has the knowledge and input of literally thousand os contributors. It show someone some of the tools they can use to create a wiki. That is stritly personal and only accessible by them or a collaborative wiki you either host on their own site or someone else to open to contributions from all.

Assistive Technology for students with Autism

Autism is a developmental disability that appears in children. It usually present by the age of three. Autism affects the development of social and communication skills. It can result from certain events before or shortly after birth. These events include infection of the brain with the herpes virus and infection of the mother with the rubella virus.

Large scale problems with brain structure are also associated with Autism. These problems include hydrocephalus or water on the brain. Sometimes a tumor may be present, but this is rare. In 1998, the study was held to see if the vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella increase the risk of having Autism. After being reviewed by both the Medical Research Council of Great Britain and the Center for Disease Control, they ruled out the possibility of these vaccines causing Autism. Researchers have found several abnormalities in the brain. They are dysfunction in the neutral structure and abnomality biochemistry.

It is important to determine which visual representation systems. It is the best understood and in what contexts. Various visual systems, such as objects, photographs, realistic, line drawing or written words. Some children may need different visual representation systems in different situations. This may be dependent upon numerous factors, such as the skill being taught, as well as the unique of Autism. A child may use real object for visual schedule, such as the object appear to give him more information as to where he is going and what is coming next, as well as to help him remain more focused during the transition. However, the same of child may use photographs or line drawing in a picture exchange in order to communicate expressively.

Autism is a lifelong. The characteristics of the disability, little or lack of speech development, avoiding social contact or awareness, and routines of behaviors are not experienced in the same degree for everyone living with Autism. The lack of a single identified cause for Autism leaves much to be discovered in the field. Theoretical cause, such as neurological and genetic. It may prove to be a link to the true cause of the disability. It has been shown that those living with Autism may be helped, not cured, and available treatments for Autism. It may allow individuals a chance to communicate with the rest of the world without becoming frustrated at the inability to communicate.
